Give It Your Best Shot!

Monday, July 30, 2007

Well, to buy this new one of my must haves before it's all gone. Welcome a grey sweater into your closet! This has been my favorite look on all the runways and i am a crazy knit person because of our very cold winters. Ok so here are a few runway ideas to wear a sweater
Pair with grey skinny jeans but make sure they are two different shades or it will look dull. A length a little below the hips, is super sexy.
These red shoes add somthing speical to this outfit.
Got killer legs? Wear with colored tights!
To show off your waist, add a skinny belt to the mix.
Happy Shopping!
Oh! I few tips to keep you sweater from pilling(a total sweater killer)-
~Put in the washer inside-out.
~ DO NOT PUT INTO THE DRYER!(trust me i have lost the best sweater to srinking to 1/3 of their size)
~Buy it a bit big, so if you didn't listen to me you aren't screwed

Peaches Geldof, who?

Sunday, July 29, 2007

Move over Peaches, there's a new young, effortlessly cool, Brit fashionista around, who just so happens to have rock and roll in her blood too. Daisy Lowe, daughter of Pearl Lowe of Powder fame and the infamous 'wife swapping' fiasco, and Gavin Rossdale; yes Gwen Stefani's hubby; is the latest fashion savvy, London darling, to have us copying her style.

Daisy looking quintessentially cool, as ever

Unlike Peaches, who admittedly does pull off the 'Kate Moss, hippy - rock chick' thing very well, Daisy has her own style. It can be laid back and sloppy, just as Peaches' can but there is definitely something original there. This, of course, combined with her rather striking, Gothic looks - tangled raven hair, huge, dark almond eyes, makes Ms. Lowe a style icon in the making.

Her style is vintage, rock chick but with little homage to the queen of rock chicks - Kate. The look is defined by lace, vintage tea dresses with square necklines, slogan tees, cream knits, thick black tights, waist belts and t - bar and court shoes, especially red. Make - up and accessories are kept to a minimum but her own individuality is seen heavily in her image. Coincidentally, Daisy is making a name for her self in the modelling industry, what with modelling her mother's collection (which is stocked at Neiman Marcus, Saks and Liberty) and spreads in British and Italian Vogue as well as W magazine, the 18 year old is also hinted to be the new face of Agent Provocateur, which of course was Moss' gig.

Veil Virtues

Thursday, July 26, 2007

I recently spotted Lily Allen with a veiled hairpiece, at the launch of her Lily Loves Collection. Since then I have been somewhat lusting after a similar piece. I just love the drama and old ladylike elegance of a veil shielding your face. It is so glamorous yet if worn the right way it can be really fashion foreword, rather then, as you may have thought, seem as though you are going to a wedding!

Lily, classic elegance with a modern twist

As everyone knows by now the forties is the theme of the upcoming season and indeed the veiled hairpiece/hat echos the mysterious and sensual glamour of Femme Fatales like Veronica Lake and Lauren Bacall as well as the graceful, grown - up elegance of fifties starlets, like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. Fashion should be just as much about fun as about style, and I think if you are confident enough to pull this look off, then you are truly fashionable. I love the vintage feel of these pieces, how they evoke the sophistication of Hollywood's golden years.

The glamour of Audrey

After a browse on EBay, I spotted some fabulous pieces. They are so chic yet embody fashion risk taking. My advice is wear them with class, perhaps with other 40's/50's style pieces but at the same time make sure there is a modern touch like a shabby belt, long necklace or oversized handbag, as it is never a good look to seem as though you just walked off a movie set! The final hat from H&M is my love!

Veronica Lake and Valentino Are Getting Married

Monday, July 23, 2007

Ok i am just kidding. But here is a new hair style to master before the offical fall fashions kick off! Straight from Valentino's own runway with some help from Veronica Lake. Ok here is how to get way easier than before. Step 1- Add some curl boosting moosue to damp hair and let hair air dry. Set entire hair in big rollers and let set till an hour.
Step 2- Undo rollers.
Step 3- Flip head upside down and use a blow dryer to set hair into curls.
Step 4- Make deep side part and spray with hairspray.

The supple metallic lining amid all that poor taste

I have had a serious addiction for a while now. A magpie tendency, I guess. Drawn to all things metallic; glinting silver, gleaming bright. Metallics in fashion though can regularly equal disaster, or even worse, a slave to fashion, but that is all but the metallic handbag.

To love or loathe, the Metallic Bag

This weekend, whilst on a trip away, I purchased yet another lustrous, metallic bag. A clutch, of course, why, what else this season! It was cheap and probably will only last a few months before I banish it to the nest of burnt - out bags, but still I was pleased. Unfortunately, metallic handbags, are one of those items destined to be hideous, and indeed they often are. High street chains produce tacky metallic handbag after tacky metallic handbag, in between the production of tacky metallic braid belts, that is. For the crimes against handbags, that these stores commit, all metallic handbags have been burdened with a bad name.

With metallic bags as fabulous as this Chloe Paddington, how can they all be tacky?

In my possession, I have the most beautiful and may I sat useful, large metallic shoulder bag. Supple, silver leather, so soft it could have been mistaken for suede, a drawstring tassel complete with this seasons handbag - must - fringing with the rich addition of a royal - blue, satin interior. The moment I saw this bag I had to have it. And I did, after all I couldn't leave this ethereal Nine West bag, that was on sale, behind. For all the hideous metallic bags you see out there, think of this one, for it's the supple silver lining amid all those tacky clouds.

In the world of high fashion, the king of the metallic bag is Marc Jacobs. He obviously shares a common magpie tendency with me! Whilst browsing on Net-a-Porter, I spotted this Anya Hindmarch hobo, that is so tacky and in-your-face glam, that it is almost irresistible. Is it possible that this luminous calamity is so bad it's good?

Back 2 School( or college) Checklist!

Friday, July 20, 2007

Well, today offical starts my back to school( or college, for thoes of the lucky ones) section. So we can all go back in stlye! Or at least looking chic. So i am making a back 2 school timeline, that has always worked for me and i am going to shar it with you with a little help from pictures. So get the notebooks out!
6 weeks till school- Start saving! Put away a little money at a time from your wonerful(just kidding) summer job. You never know how much that bag you have been eyeing will be costing when it becomes the It bag, when you wear it.
4 weeks- Start walking. Try it with you friends but it will get you fit for the first day. And it's time for a hair cut! Start snipping now and you can have your styling routine down by the first day.
3 weeks- Go back to school shopping! And start giving your feet some R&R. Start useing srub in the shower and lotion at night.
2 weeks- Try a self tanner(don't go tanning outside, please no skin cancer). Start adding toner and scrubbing your face to your routine. 3 to 5 days- Pluck or wax your eyebrows.

2 to 3 day- Have a sleepover. I know that sounds really young but who eles can do your nails without messing the other hand up? 1 day-Try a glaze into your shower to get your hair really shiny and good looking. Get you beaty rest! Go to bed early, it willn't kill you.

5 minutes till homeroom- Put on a smile! Charm all those boys.
Well look for all of these fall fashion post in the future!
