You make me feel like shopping

Friday, August 31, 2007

So, recently, as regular readers will know, I had a little rant about 'Celebrities taking over the fashion industry and splashing their beautiful, bronzed faces all over my fashion magazines' or something of sorts. Anyway, remember I was flicking through the September issue of British Vogue, scouring for exotic or interesting non celebrity ads. Such are becoming mythical, as few of the advertisements amid Vogue's amble selection had me captivated.

Fashion changes in everything, not just our handbags and 'colours of the season' but in fashion advertising too. As I rifled through, the crisp, glossy pages of Vogue, my eyes wide with anticipation of what the next advertisement would hold, only to be let down when met with a series of mundane, prentention - stinking adverts. Gone are the days, of glamour and visual princesses selling us the must coveted of luxury brands, now faux glamour in the shape of money, sex and debauchery (That's you, Dolce and Gabbana, bottom right), and superiority are what are supposed to make us swoon. Must of these advertisements are joined with a common denominator of similar themes - moodiness, darkness, monochrome, shadows, brooding men and sultry stares(ahem Burberry Prorsum left). To the untrained fashion eye, it may appear that the fashion industry is wishing to sell us depression along with their latest 'it' bag.

However it was not all doom and gloom on the fashion advertisement front; there were some advertisements worthy of mention for managing to steal my concentration from the difficult task at hand. Of course, they do contain some of these fashion advertising trends, that I mentioned above, but they succeeded in the challenge by grabbing my attention, and must importantly making me want to buy the products.

Bottega Veneta
A definite escape from all the provocative camera staring and pouting lips, shot in tones of dull gold and ochre, a luxurious, 20's flapper girl dressing room scene ensues. Undoubtedly a mood lingers in the air, adding to the alluring concoction of rich garments and interiors, and 20's glamour. Poetic and dramatic, Bottega Venteta certainly succeeds.

Miu Miu
Sensual imagery of a glamorous, lounging lady (Laetita Casta) wearing a fuchsia 40's skirt suit and enviable nude and coral heels. Scarlet lips and tousled auburn hair seduces whilst the vivid jewel colours of ruby, amethyst and pink Sapphire grasp the eye.

Miu Miu does sultry glamour in fuchsia

Longchamp
An indigo corsetted, peroxide haired Moss, poses dreamily beneath a veil of inky blue, draped across her porcelain face. A Longchamp bag sits precariously on fragile limbs against a Monet -esque blush of blue. Ethereal and beautiful, this Longchamp campaign is a precious gemstone among it's competitors.

Kate royal in blues for Longchamp

Gucci
Although set with the gloomy backdrop of an old stage set, in dirty colours of olive and dark green with the murky cloud of greyness overhead; there is something different and exciting about this advertisement, contrary to the sombre mood. Another red lipped lady reminiscent of 1940's starlets, stands nonchalantly with her hands in her pockets a la Katherine Hepburn; is a vishion in flowing white, gold belt and Veronica Lake waves. Impressive things from Gucci, far more so then the high profile Indie campaign.

Gucci proves there's no need for props in their simple yet intrigueing campaign

Worthy of a mention ~ Chanel
An interesting and intelligent campaign from Chanel this season. Dark, seasonal and artistic, an atmospheric showcase for this season's collection.

Winter has come at Chanel

Thoughts? Love or loath this advertisements? What fashion ads make you feel like shopping this season?

7 day's of outfits=9 pieces

''How is that possible Iz?'' was my little sister's first question when i started that title but i bet i can. You all know that every new season SEVENTEEN, they put in a bunch of pieces clothes and switch them all up and make outfits for eery day of the week. I found some really cute pieces that you can make into waickly amzaing outifts with them and adding some jewlery. And the numbers for each piece is.....
1. Is a hoodie from Wet Seal. 2. White skinny jeans from Old Navy.

3. Is a dress from Old Navy. 4. A sweet sweater from Old Navy.
5. Black tights from (i have no idea but they are cute).
6. Killer shorts from Forever 21.
7. From Forever 21(ani't this totally cool).

8. The cami looks super flatter from Forever 21.
9. These look like Chanel ones from Target. So now follow the numbers and add the jewlery pieces and you will be better than gold, no better than gold.
Monday(crapiest day fo the week)- Add numbers 1+2+8+9+ this sweet locket and ket set would look brillient.
Tuesday-6+7+9 and this elephant necklace is wickly hot(man, i need some new adjectives, any ideas girls).

Wed.- 2+3+4+9 and these earings and wear your hair up! Show off your inner sext beast.

Thurseday- 5+6+4+9+ and add some class, sweet chickies.
Friday- 4+7+2+9 and this ring =sweetness.
Saterday- Getting a little funky and different with 3+7+9, it's a little dareing but we all can totally pull it off with African help.
Sunday- 3+4+5+9 and a sweet bangle to end the week with.

Sorry for the lack of posts but school has started and i got so much hamework! On the first week ever!

A/W Accessorising Part III - Super Size My Clutch

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Way back at the beginning of July, when I began this blog,(The beginning of July probably does not mean 'way back' for some of you veteran bloggers! Forgive me!) I posted about Clutches. This summer I fell in love with the Clutch. I just love the feminine Grace Kelly touch they add to an ensemble or the kitsch quirk they bring to a regular outfit. Without a doubt I will be continuing my love affair with the Clutch this autumn/winter but with a twist. Well not so much a 'twist' but a size enlargement.

Yes, that cute little bejewelled clutch, still wrapped in tissue paper since the last time you used it for a formal ball, is not exactly what I hand in mind. I'm talking about those vast, spacious, super - sized Clutches, the ones you spotted on the runways of Louis Vuitton(top right and left), Prada and Fendi. The over sized Clutch is The Musthave. The high heeled Oxford and the beret are all very nice and fashionable, but the oversized Clutch is my favourite of all. It exudes glamour and sophistication and something of the Dynasty 80's opulence. Suitable for both day and night, how could your wardrobe exist without one?

The huge Clutches of glistening gold metal plates at Louis Vuitton(top right), certainly mark this trend as cutting edge. Prada displayed striking Clutches of mixed fabrics - grey tinged fur and maroon suede(left), ruched satin in shades of creamy gold and moss green. Fendi's runway was festival of different Clutches. Curved, gathered clutches of coloured wools, sequins, garish colours, soft textured leathers and frivolous feathers were seen to the delight of those with a handbag fetish.
What can be gathered from these runways is that bold, heavily decorated and embellished, statement Clutches of vast dimensions, is the bag of the season.

Roomy Prada Clutches

Loud Fendi Clutches prove the Super Clutch to be an ostentatious trend

A large Clutch brings your daywear to a fashion foreword place and makes evening wear fun and quirky rather then up tight grandeur. Lux crocodile skin exterior, as seen at Etro, Michael Kors and Versace(right) is the last word in Clutch fashion. Extravagant and flamboyant, the super sized Clutch is the great beginning of the perfect a/w wardrobe.

I am sorry for that lame title but i have no witty title or cool intro. for a little trend that looks so clean and fresh for fall. It's more of a job interview or church than i really school or hanging out everyday(but if you are really clean, which i am totally not, you may be able to pull it off). But i just love the cleaness of it all. So here is the celeb way. And my Way!
A lovely grey sweater will do the trick.

Thses shose are simplely lovely. Thses pants have what i call a tummy sucker power(because of the waistband that kinda hides the tummy fat).
This silver bag is so chic.
I think the simpleness(is that even a word?) of this is so cute.
sorry for the lack of a totally hot post but i am in love with my other blog.please go check it out!
